01About these terms

These terms apply to every service booked with SafeTrip Logistics and Escort Services Ltd, RC 9782175, of Lagos State Safety Arena, Bolade, Oshodi, Mafoluku, Lagos State, Nigeria ("SafeTrip", "we", "us"). "You" means the person or organisation booking the service.

A signed job confirmation, contract or service level agreement may add to these terms. Where it differs from them, the signed document applies. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 that cannot lawfully be limited.

02Our services and licences

We provide haulage, cargo and convoy escort, close protection, executive transport, secure courier and event and site security. We operate 24 hours a day, every day.

Our guarding and escort operatives do not carry firearms. They are equipped with non-lethal security gadgets for communication, detection and surveillance. Where a route assessment calls for armed cover, it is provided only by officers of the Nigeria Police Force attached to our team, who act under their own command and rules, and it is agreed with you in writing before the job.

03Quotes and bookings

  • Quotes are valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise, and are based on the information you give us.
  • Prices exclude VAT, which is added at the current rate, and any tolls, port charges or permits listed in the quote.
  • A booking is confirmed when we send a written job confirmation and you accept it, by email, WhatsApp or signature.
  • If the route, cargo, timing or risk turns out to be different from what you told us, we may revise the price or the plan before deploying.

04Your responsibilities

  • Give accurate details of the route, cargo (including its nature and value), passengers and any known risks.
  • Make sure goods are lawful, properly packed and labelled, and come with the documents, permits and customs clearances needed to move them.
  • Tell us in writing about hazardous, fragile, perishable or high-value goods before the booking is confirmed.
  • Have someone available to hand over and receive the goods, or meet the team, at the agreed times and places.
  • Follow reasonable safety instructions from the escort leader or protection officer during the job.

05Our responsibilities

  • Provide trained, vetted and uniformed personnel and suitable, roadworthy vehicles.
  • Plan the route, follow the agreed plan and keep you updated at the agreed checkpoints.
  • Take reasonable care of goods and people in our charge.
  • Provide proof of delivery, a trip log and, if anything happens, a written incident report within 24 hours.
  • Keep your information confidential, as set out in our privacy policy.

06Prohibited goods and instructions

We do not carry or escort illegal or stolen goods, prohibited drugs, unlicensed firearms or ammunition, or goods that need permits you have not supplied. We may refuse, pause or end a job, and notify the authorities where the law requires, if we reasonably believe the goods or instructions are unlawful or unsafe. You remain liable for the charges up to that point.

07Safety decisions

The escort leader or lead officer may delay, reroute or stop a job when they judge it unsafe to continue, for example because of unrest, flooding, a security alert or a vehicle fault. We will tell you straight away and agree the next step with you. A safety decision made in good faith is not a breach of these terms.

08Payment

  • Invoices are payable by bank transfer within the time shown on the invoice. We may ask for a deposit or full payment before deploying on a first booking.
  • Corporate account terms are agreed in writing.
  • If an invoice is overdue, we may pause further bookings until it is paid.

09Cancellations and changes

  • You can change or cancel a booking free of charge until the team is deployed.
  • After deployment, we charge for the time, vehicles and personnel already committed, and any third-party costs we cannot recover.
  • Waiting time beyond the agreed schedule may be charged at the rate in your quote.
  • If we have to cancel for reasons within our control, we will refund anything you paid for that job.

10Liability and insurance

Haulage and courier jobs. Our liability for loss of or damage to goods in our care is limited to the lower of the value you declared before the job and the cover under the goods-in-transit insurance for that job, unless we agree a different limit in writing. You can ask for higher cover when you book.

Escort, protection and security jobs. These services reduce risk but cannot remove it. Unless we carry the goods ourselves, ownership of and insurance for the goods, vehicles and premises stay with you or your carrier, and our liability is limited to the fees paid for the job, except where loss is caused by our negligence.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, business or contracts. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

11Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including road closures, civil unrest, strikes, severe weather, fuel scarcity, epidemics, or action by government or security agencies. We will tell you promptly and do what we reasonably can to keep your goods and people safe.

12Your indemnity

You will cover our reasonable losses, fines and costs that result from inaccurate information you gave us about the goods, route or passengers, from goods that are unlawful or undeclared, or from missing documents or permits.

13Claims

  • Note visible loss or damage on the waybill at delivery, and report it to us in writing within 48 hours.
  • Keep the goods and packaging available for inspection by us and our insurers.
  • Send full details of any claim in writing within 30 days of delivery, or of the date delivery was due.

14Subcontracting and confidentiality

We may use vetted subcontractors for part of a job and remain responsible to you for their work. Both of us will keep the other's confidential information, including routes, schedules and itineraries, private and use it only for the job.

15Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute arises, we will first try to settle it by discussion within 14 days. If that fails, either of us may refer it to mediation at the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse, and if it is still not resolved, to the courts of Lagos State.

16General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when your booking is confirmed applies to that booking.
