01Who we are

SafeTrip Logistics and Escort Services Ltd (RC 9782175) ("SafeTrip", "we", "us") provides haulage, cargo and convoy escort, close protection, executive transport, secure courier and event and site security services in Nigeria. Our office is at Lagos State Safety Arena, Bolade, Oshodi, Mafoluku, Lagos State, Nigeria, opposite the Army Arena Shopping Complex.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which we process in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations and guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

For anything about your personal data, contact our data protection lead at info@safetripescorts.com, call +234 702 534 0064 or write to the address above.

02Data we collect

We collect only what we need to plan, run and bill your jobs, or to consider you for work:

  • Contact details: name, company, job title, phone or WhatsApp number and email address.
  • Trip and job details: pickup and delivery locations, dates and times, cargo type and declared value, waybills and delivery records.
  • Passenger and principal details for protection and transport jobs: names, itineraries, flight details and any information you choose to share for safety planning.
  • Event details: venue, guest numbers and, where you ask us to run access control, guest lists.
  • Communications: messages and calls through our forms, email, phone or WhatsApp.
  • Billing details: invoicing contacts, company details and payment records. We do not store card details.
  • Job applicants: CVs, references and, for shortlisted candidates, the results of background checks.
  • Proof of delivery: recipient names, signatures, photos and time stamps.

Sensitive data. Some protection jobs involve health information (for example a principal's medical needs). We collect this only with explicit consent, share it only with the assigned team, and delete it when the job ends.

Children. We do not knowingly collect data directly from anyone under 18. Where a family booking includes children, we take their details from a parent or guardian, for safety planning only.

03How we use it, and our legal basis

The NDPA requires a lawful basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:

  • To quote for, plan, run, track and report on your jobs: to perform our contract with you, or to take steps you asked for before one.
  • To invoice and keep financial and tax records: to meet our legal obligations.
  • To meet licensing, insurance, regulatory and law-enforcement requirements: legal obligation.
  • To protect life and property during a job or incident: vital interests and legitimate interests.
  • To keep our service safe and improve it (for example reviewing trip logs after an incident): legitimate interests, balanced against your rights.
  • To consider job applications and run background checks: steps before an employment contract, and consent for checks.
  • To send you news or offers: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.

04Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is needed for the purposes above, and only with:

  • Our vetted staff and the team assigned to your job.
  • Subcontracted carriers, drivers or security partners we use for your job, under written confidentiality terms.
  • Insurers, loss adjusters and our professional advisers.
  • The Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, customs and other authorities where the law requires it, or to protect life and property.
  • Service providers such as WhatsApp (Meta), email, website hosting and IT support, who process data on our instructions.

05Transfers outside Nigeria

Some of our service providers, including WhatsApp, email and hosting, store data on servers outside Nigeria. We use them only where the NDPA permits the transfer, for example where the provider offers adequate protection through its contract terms, or where the transfer is needed to perform our contract with you.

06Tracking and location data

Our vehicles are GPS-tracked for safety and to give you checkpoint updates. Location data is tied to the trip and kept with the trip log. It can show where our drivers and operatives are while on duty, and they are told about this when they join us. We do not use tracking to follow clients or passengers outside a booked job.

07How long we keep it

  • Contracts, invoices and trip records: 6 years after the job, for tax, accounting and legal claims.
  • GPS data and proof-of-delivery photos: 12 months, or longer if linked to an incident or claim.
  • Enquiries and quotes that do not lead to a booking: 12 months.
  • CVs in our talent pool: 12 months, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
  • Sensitive data for protection jobs: deleted when the job ends.

After these periods we delete or anonymise the data.

08Security and breaches

Access to personal data is limited to people who need it for their work, who are bound by confidentiality. We protect records with technical and organisational safeguards suited to the risk. If a personal data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the NDPC within 72 hours of becoming aware of it and tell you without undue delay where the risk to you is high.

09Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to:

  • be told how your data is used (this policy) and get a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed;
  • have your data deleted where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it;
  • restrict or object to our use of your data, including for direct marketing;
  • receive your data in a common electronic format and have it sent to another organisation;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it;
  • not be subject to a decision based only on automated processing.

Email info@safetripescorts.com to use any of these rights. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within 30 days. There is no charge. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

10This website and cookies

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser shares its IP address with Google. When you submit a form, your details are passed to WhatsApp or your email app for you to send, so WhatsApp's or your email provider's own privacy terms also apply. If we add analytics later, we will update this section and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will tell clients with an active account about significant changes. See also our terms of service.
